Pet Portrait Frequently Asked Questions
I recently had the chance to talk with folks in person about my pet portraits, and I wanted to take a moment to answer some of the most common questions I get! If you don't see an answer to your question here, please email me! OK, here goes:
Where are you located?
I can make you a painting no matter where you live: I ship anywhere in the USA! I live and work in Atlanta, Georgia.
Do you work from photos?
For most commissions I work from photographs, so you don't need to actually bring your pet to me. Most folks send me a whole bunch of photos and I help them pick one that will work well as a painting. Pets don't like to sit still so it would be better to work with photos even if you lived next door to me. I use my artistic license to show the best of your pet.
What kind of paintings are these? Are they real?
These are real, hand-painted artworks that I make. They take at a minimum 6 - 8 weeks to dry so that I can varnish and ship them, so let me know if you are on a deadline!
I also make watercolor paintings, which are complete and dry much faster than oil paintings.
What size paintings do you offer? What size painting should I get?
I recommend a painting at least 9" x 12" as the smallest size for a wall painting, but I can make a painting of any size, starting at 5" x 7". The sky is the limit for larger works!
If you're having trouble choosing a size, try this: find the spot where you would like to display the piece. Then, measure it! This is the easiest way to figure out what size to go with.
Can you paint things besides animals?
I can paint other things aside from animals, including houses, cars, boats, landscapes and so on. Just ask and we can get started.
