Figure Drawings in Charcoal

About the Drawings
This is a small selection of the many hours of figure drawings I completed while studying at Georgia State University, usually completed under time restraint, with the goal of learning 'gesture' (the rhythm and movement of forms) and rapid apprehension and construction of the human figure. Charcoal is one of the most ancient and basic mediums for the artist studying the figure, yet its versatility and simplicity make it ideal for the purpose. I have also done many figure studies in ink, which I love for rapid gestures, and of course paint for fully rendered works.
